Message from Fr. Gallas:

Simplified Giving

Living, as we do, in the Great White North, we are spared the monotony of putting up with the same old weather all the time. Mother Nature is always thinking ahead to fill our days with her many surprises, snow, sleet, rain, ice, generously cold temperatures, etc. Some people love it, others could take it or leave it.

Take a moment, though, to consider what impact the weather has on the collection. If, on a given weekend, there is a bad storm that coincides with the weekend masses, it could happen (and has happened twice so far this winter) that for legitimate safety concerns, mass attendance takes a dip, and so does the collection.

The parish pays its bills primarily from two sources: tuition income at the school, and the Sunday offertory. When inclement weather strikes, or when someone happens to be on vacation and attending mass elsewhere, the parish will experience something akin to missing a paycheck. It becomes more difficult to pay the bills. We worry about cashflow. The Finance Committee will be watching the matter closely, especially as the end of the fiscal year approaches this June.

In the meantime, here is something to consider: Electronic giving not only simplifies your life but it also adds to the stability of parish cashflow. Going to be in Rome next weekend attending mass with the pope? No problem, your regular giving will still arrive safely in Loretto. Can't get out of your driveway because of that 32" snowfall? Not a problem, the parish will still receive the generosity of your regular giving. Please consider using simplified (electronic) giving. There is no cost, it's automatic, you retain complete control over your giving, and it really is a blessing for your parish, too. Call Lynn at the office to set it up.
